In 1977, after I rode from Minneapolis to Nyack, New York, I wished that I had gone longer. Now, forty years of cycling later, I’m ready to do another long tour. A tour with no defined route or specific destination, generally traveling north and east from Bernardo New Mexico through Kansas and Missouri up into the Midwest. A tour long enough that I can’t see the end from the beginning. Where I end up and how I go will depend on the weather, my condition both physical and mental, and the people I meet. Traveling under my own power with everything I have loaded on the bike, it’s a chance to look around and see how things are going.
